Relative time computed during render is a hydration mismatch and a cache poison: a prerendered "2m ago" is a lie ten minutes later. The markup carries the absolute date, and the browser upgrades it to 3h after hydration. No JavaScript still leaves a real date behind.

Notes render their bodies inline, which means the syntax highlighter runs for every note on the page rather than for one post at a time. Twenty items with code in several of them is the worst case, and it is the number worth measuring before anyone claims the page is fast.
